Rijiju visits SAI headquarters, essential staff resumes office

Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju and Sports Authority of India (SAI) officials on Monday visited their office and resumed operations after more than a fortnight of working remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The minister visited the SAI headquarters here wearing a mask and sanitised his hands before entering the premises.
“Officers of the Sports Authority of India and Sports Ministry have resumed work from today. @KirenRijiju attended office at SAI at 9.30am. He said all precautions, including social distancing, wearing masks, temperature checks will be followed strictly to ensure complete safety,” Rijiju retweeted a post from his office’s handle.
Rijiju said all COVID-19 guidelines will be followed and only senior officials and minimum required staff will be coming to the office.
”In my Ministry, we are strictly maintaining social distancing, using masks, regularly wiping down high-touch surfaces, frequently washing hands, working online, using teleconference options. No external visitors except for urgent matters. No non-essential meetings or activities,” the sports minister tweeted.
The SAI office was shut down on March 21 as part of precautionary measures to contain the COVID-19 virus.
On Saturday, all ministers were asked to resume office from Monday along with joint secretary level officers and one-third of their essential staff. (PTI)
