Red Cross shines at National Level

JAMMU, Nov 20: In a grand ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, three Red Cross volunteers from Jammu and Kashmir State were awarded with medals and certificates by the President of India recently.
Dinash Gupta has been awarded gold medal for his exemplary service towards humanity through IRCS- J&K State.
Mr. Gupta has been associated with Red Cross for the last 27 years and has served as Honorary Executive Secretary, District Red Cross Committee, Jammu from 1992 to 2009.
Bashir Ahmad Shiekh, Red Cross Volunteer from Ramban has been awarded the Jiv Raksha Award which consists of a medal and a citation.
Bashir has been associated with Red Cross since 2004 and has led many rescue operations during road traffic accidents on NH1 in the Banihal-Ramban stretch.
Another volunteer from Jammu, Subhash Chandra Bali has been awarded merit certificate for his devoted service to the humanitarian cause of the Red Cross. Mr. Bali is associated with Red Cross since 1972 and is presently serving voluntarily in the ChildLine Project being implemented by Red Cross Committee, Jammu.
While congratulating the awardees, General Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, J&K State, Roma Wani said that it is for the first time that the services of volunteers / members from IRCS-J&K have been recognized at National Level.
She further said that the awardees shall continue their selfless services towards humanity and inspire other youth in the State to join Red Cross Movement.
Wani described the Awards as an important milestone in the history of Red Cross in the State.
