RCC Srinagar sails into semis of Police Martyrs’ Cricket Tournament

JAMMU, Mar 17: Thrashing KFC Rajouri in an easy contest by 7 wickets, RCC Srinagar has entered the semifinals of the ongoing 3rd Police Martyrs’ Cricket Tournament, being organized by Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu at KC Sports Club and Mandal Cricket Grounds, here today.
Young side of Jammu Gymkhana, led by veteran cricketer Sandeep Singh (Sunny) defeated Reasi Cricket Club in a low scoring match by 9 wickets and entered the quarterfinals of the Tournament and will face formidable Simula XI in the last eight stage tomorrow.
Earlier, in the first match Jammu Gymkhana defeated Reasi Cricket Club by 9 wickets. Batting first, Reasi Cricket XI scored 77 runs in stipulated 13.4 overs. Nadeem (20), and Ankush (13) were the main scorers. Sidhant took 3 wickets, while Tribuwan and Akash bagged 2 wickets each. Hitesh and Sahil clamed one wicket each.
In reply, Jammu Gymkhana chased the target in 11.5 overs. Nipun Verma was the top scorer with 33 runs, while Rocky and Jagan scored 23 and 11 runs respectively. Shubam took the lone wicket to fall. Sidhant of Jammu Gymkhana was declared man of the match.
In the second match, Poonch Cricket Club registered a thrilling win over Akhnoor Cricket Club on the last ball of the match.
Batting First Akhnoor scored 151 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 8 wickets with Sumit (51 in 27 balls), Sunny (31) and Rahul (26) being the main scorers. Adnan took 3 wickets, Deepak and Sukhvinder bagged 2 wickets each, while Rupinder and Imran shared one wicket each.
In reply, Poonch Cricket chased the target on the last ball of match, when the team needed 6 runs to win and Deepak hitting a massive six. Shabir (34 in 28 balls), Ankush (32 in 33 balls), Adnan (17) were the main scorers. Roshan and Sham took 2 wickets each, while Sunny and Dilawar claimed one wicket for the team. Deepak was adjudged man of the match. Poonch team was accompanied by Pawan Kumar, Ranji trophy trainer as player.
In another match, RCC Srinagar thrashed KFC Rajouri by 7 wickets in an easy contest.
Batting first, KFC Rajouri bundled out for paltry total of 62 runs in the 15.5 overs. Sachin and Bunty were the only batsmen to cross double figures, scoring 12 and 10 runs respectively. Kuldeep Kumar took 3 wickets, while Sahil Sharma, Vimarsh Kaw and Satish took 2 wickets each.
In reply, RCC Srinagar chased the target in 5.4 overs by losing 3 wickets, thus won the match by 7 wickets. Ishan was the top scorer with 21 of 7 balls, while Puneet Wattal and Vimarsh Kaw contributed 16 runs each. Bunty took 2 wickets for his team. Kuldeep was adjudged man of the match for his bowling performance.
In another match, Samar Club defeated Sunderbani Cricket Club. Batting first, Sunderbani scored 130 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Kulvinder and Vikas were the main scorers with 21 runs each, while Jasbir contributed 17 runs to the total. Micky took 3 wickets, while Narinder and Tinku took 2 wickets each.
Samar Cricket Club, in reply chased the target in 19.5 overs by losing 6 wickets, thus won the match by 4 wickets. Jasvinder was the top scorer with 31 runs, while Sunny scored 27 runs. Vikas took 3 wickets, Sumit 2 and Arif one. Micky was adjudged man of the match.
The matches were officiated by Saleem-ur-Rehman, Sadiq Hussain, Sandeep Manchanda, Naresh Kumar, Shamsher Singh, Suhail, Farooq Ahmad and Nitu, while the scorebooks were maintained by Suhail, Vinod, Rakul and Yogesh Sharma.
