JAMMU, Mar 23: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma, emphasized upon teaching fraternity to impart moral and value based education to students so that they can become responsible citizens of the society.
The Minister was addressing a huge gathering including students and teaching fraternity at an impressive annual day function held today at Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan (Deemed University) Shri Ranbir Campus, Kot-Bhalwal Jammu.
Former Union Minister, Dr Sarojini, presided over the function while Assistant Director of Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, New Delhi, Rohtas Singh was the special invitee.
Terming Sanskrit as mother of all the languages, the Minister, who was chief guest on the function, hailed the efforts of the institution for teaching Sanskrit language to the students and doing a yeoman’s service to the nation during the present times.
The Minister also stressed introduction of Agriculture Science and Moral Science subjects in the curriculum. He said the moral education has greater relevance in today’s perplexed era which will also help reduce the vacuum between the teacher and the pupil. He said that Sanskrit is not only the mother of other languages but also National language so all efforts should be made to encourage it at all levels.
The Minister also released a campus magazine Vashnavi and appreciated its contents which are of great educative value.
Referring to the demand of installation of hand pumps in the campus, the Minister assured better water facilities to the complex.
Later, the Minister distributed prizes among the students who excelled in the academics, cultural and sports activities during the previous and current session.
Earlier, the students of the Sansthan presented welcome song and greeted the Chief Guest with great enthusiasm and fervor.
Principal, RSS, Deemed University of the Sanskrit Sansthan, Prof M. Chander Shekhar gave a brief account of the annual performance of the Institution.
