JAMMU, Nov 24: Jammu Kashmir completed the formalities by dismissing the two remaining Andhra Pradesh batsmen to notch up a 17-run win on the fourth and final day of their low-scoring Ranji Trophy Group C match at Anantpur in Andhra Pradesh, today.
Reduced to 79 for eight yesterday, Andhra folded for 124 while chasing a meagre 142 for victory.
Marripuri Suresh was the lone Andhra batsman to put up a semblance of fight against J&K with a 104-ball 50, which included seven hits to the fence.
For J&K, Ramdayal Punia and Mohammed Muddasir bagged 3 wickets each, while Samiullah Beigh picked up 2 wickets.
Meanwhile, when contacted by EXCELSIOR, Dr Farooq Abdullah congratulated the team and the support staff for this brilliant win. He, however said that consistency is the name of the game and hoped the team which is doing a fabulous job will show consistency and win more and more matches. Dr Farooq, further said that after a brilliant victory at home against Goa, the loss against Himachal Pradesh on the other day at Dharamshalla was hurting for the entire State.
The Jammu and Kashmir team is being accompanied by senior selector and former Ranji trophy player, Shiban Lal Trakroo as manger and former Ranji trophy skipper, Abdul Qayoom as coach, while Parvez Rasool is the captain of the team.
