JAMMU, July 7: Rakesh Kumar of 59 Kg Category and Surmeet Kour Soni of 47 Kg category were declared as Powerman and Powerwoman in State Power Lifting Championship organized by J&K Sports Power Lifting Association (JKSPLA) on July 5 and 6 at Fittness First Gym, here at Pacca Danga, for the upcoming Senior National Powerlifting Championship to be held at Kashipur (Uttrakhand), from September 8 to 13.
In Unequipped Category (Men), Rakesh Kumar won gold, Charangiev Singh claimed silver and Charanjvot Singh won bronze in 59 Kg class. While in 66kg class Amit Anand, Rohit Singh and Vivek Sharma clinched gold, silver and bronze, respectively.
In 74kg class, Feroz Khan won gold, Ankit Singh won silver and Harish Sharma got bronze while in 83kg class, Varun Gupta claimed gold, Satinder Pal Singh got silver and Manikdeep Singh won bronze.
In 93kg class, Varundeep Sharma won gold and Bhanu Dev got silver. In 105kg class, Roshan Sharma got gold and Pankaj Verma won silver. In 120kg class, Rohit Sharma got gold while in +120kg class, Dhanuk Mansotra claimed gold.
In Equipped Category (Men), Pawan Kumar won gold in 59 Kg class while Rohit Singh got gold in 66Kg class. In 74kg class, Sandeep claimed gold, Ankit won silver and Bhaskar Sharma clinched bronze. In 83kg class, Dinesh Singh, Varun Gupta and Tarun Singh won gold, silver and bronze, respectively. In 93kg class, Faisal Paul got gold and Varundeep Sharma got silver while in 105kg class, Pankaj Verma claimed gold. In +120kg class, Vikramjeet Singh won gold.
In Unequipped Category (Women), Surmeet Kour Soni won gold in 47 Kg class, Sudesh Kumari got gold in 57 Kg class while in 63kg class, Harmeet Kour claimed gold. In 72kg class, Fatimabibi won gold while Irvinder Kour got silver.
The winners were awarded medals by senior BJP leader, Yudhvir Sethi, in a ceremony organized at the venue on the concluding day of championship, today. Sethi in his speech exhorted the youths to play positively for a healthy competition.
