JAMMU, June 2: Rajiv Gandhi College of Nursing (RGCN), Chak Bhalwal, Jammu, organized its lamp lighting and oath ceremony with great enthusiasm and solemnity, marking a significant milestone in the academic journey of nursing students as they formally entered the noble profession of nursing.
The programme was graced by Dr Sanjogita Soodan, Deputy Medical Superintendent, Super Speciality Hospital, Jammu, as the chief guest. Among the distinguished dignitaries present were M S Katoch, Chairman, RGCN; Abhimanyu Katoch, Managing Director, RGCN; Ayush Katoch, Director, Kawa Renewable Energy; and Anjana Bavouria, Director, Rajiv Gandhi College of Nursing.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Tariq Ahmed, Professor-cum-Vice Principal, RGCN, who welcomed the guests, faculty members and students. The traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, symbolizing the light of knowledge, compassion and selfless service inspired by Florence Nightingale, was the highlight of the programme.
The nursing students then took the professional oath, administered by Govind Pareek, Associate Professor, pledging to uphold the ethics, values and responsibilities of the nursing profession with dedication, integrity and compassion.
Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries emphasized the vital role of nurses in healthcare and encouraged the students to serve humanity with commitment, empathy and professionalism. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Rahul Chidda, Nursing Tutor.
