JAMMU, Jan 16: Rajguru Cricket Club and Chander Shaker Azad Cricket Club defeated Bunty Cricket Club and Subash Chander Bose Cricket Club respectively to seal berth in the semifinals of the ongoing BJYM’s ‘Khelega Yuva Jeetega Bharat’ Cricket Tournament at Parade ground, here today.
Sub-Inspector Sumeet Sharma was the chief guest to grace the occasion and he distributed mementos among the winners, sponsored by “Nutrition Heart” Channi Himmat Jammu. He was accompanied by State BJYM Incharge Yudhvir Sethi, State president BJYM, Ravinder Raina, State general secretary and programme incharge, Ajay Pargal, State vice president and programme co-incharge Karan Sharma, State vice presidents BJYM, Ashish Sareen and Vikas Sharma, district president Jammu, Ishant Gupta, Jammu district vice president BJYM – Ankush Khajuria, programme incharge – Rohit Verma, and Rajan Thakayal.
The first quarterfinal match was played between Bunty Cricket Club and Rajguru Cricket Club. Bunty Cricket Club won the toss and chose to bat first. The team scored 136 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.
In reply, Rajguru Cricket Club chased the required target by scoring 139 runs for the loss of just 5 wickets. Pankaj was declared as man of the match from the team Rajguru Cricket Club for his contribution of 41 runs and 4 wickets.
Meanwhile, second match was played between Chander Shaker Azad Cricket Club and Subash Chander Bose Cricket Club. Chander Shaker Azad Cricket Club won the toss and chose to bat first and secored 160 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs.
In reply, Subash Chander Bose Cricket Club failed to chase the required target and lost all the wickets by scoring 107 runs in 17 overs. Vikram made 26 runs and Rakesh contributed 23 runs. Vishwajeet was declared as man of the match for scoring 38 runs and has taking 1 wicket.
