JAMMU, Nov 17: Quarter final lineup in the ongoing All India Inter-Zonal Handball (Men & Women) Championship 2014-15 was conducted at University Sports Stadium organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
A total of 16 matches were played today, eight in Men’s Section and eight in Women’s Section.
In Men’s Section, the 1st match was played between RTMNU Nagpur and University of Calicut which was won by RTMNU Nagpur by 33-32 points. The 2nd match was played between Punjabi University, Patiala and BHU Varanasi, which was won by former by 33-13 points. The 3rd match was won by VBSPU Jounpur by 36-33, 4th by Kurukshetra University by 51-36, 5th by University of Jammu by 22-16, 6th by Pt RSS University, Raipur, 7th by Periyar University, Salem by 32-24 while 8th match was won by Panjab University Chandigarh by 28-16.
In Women’s Section, the 1st match was played between RTMNU Nagpur and Kannur University, which was won by latter by 27-26 points. The 2nd match was won by LPU Phagwara by 25-03 points, 3rd by Pt RSS University Raipur by 19-15 points, 4th by Delhi University, 5th by Punjabi University, Patiala by 14-0, 6th by Calicut University by 21-11, 7th by Periyar University, Salem by 22-7 and 8th by Panjab University, Chandigarh by 27-07 points.
In today’s matches of the Men’s Section, Brijesh Yadav was the top scorer with 13 goals while in Women’s Section top scorer was Jaya Lakshmi with 11 goals.
The matches were officiated by Dev Raj, Handball Coach, Sanjeev Singh, Kapil Sagotra, Govind Ram, Gourav Sharma, Vikas Sharma, Karun Magotra, Kartar Dogra, Lakhwhinder Singh, Kaushal Dikshit, Priya Charak, Ashish, Prabhleen Kour, Rahul Bakshi, Pooja Sharma, Jeevenjot and Reva Rajput.
