JAMMU, Feb 9: Quarterfinals position has been cleared in Under-17 Girls Cricket Championship in the ongoing 62nd National School Games in the disciplines of Under-17 Girls Cricket and Under-19 Boys and Girls Tennis Cricket Championship, being organized by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, under the aegis of School Games Federation of India (SGFI) at various venues, here.
Now, in the quarterfinals to be played tomorrow, hosts Jammu and Kashmir will take on Uttar Pradesh at Jammu University ground, Punjab will lock horns with Maharashtra at KC Public School ground, Telangana will take on Haryana at MHAC School Nagbani and Andhra Pradesh will face Gujarat at Dogra ground.
Earlier, J&K defeated CBSE by a huge margin of 114 runs in Under-17 Girls Cricket at Jammu University ground. Batting first, J&K scored a decent total of 138 runs. Nancy top scored with 36 runs, while Ananya contributed valuable 20 runs to the total. None of the bowlers from CBSE could do much damage to the J&K batsmen.
In reply, CBSE bundled out for a paltry total of 24 runs, thus lost the match by a big margin of 114 runs.
In another match of Cricket Under-17 Girls at Jammu University ground, Maharashtra got better of Delhi by 8 wickets. Delhi scored 29 runs, while Maharashtra chased the target by losing 2 wickets to win the match by 8 wicket.
In Under-17 Girls Cricket at MA Stadium, Haryana thrashed Chhattisgarh by a huge margin of 136 runs. Haryana scored a mammoth total of 190 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Saifali top scored with 79 runs, while Varsha contributed 59 runs to the total.
In reply, Chhattisgarh collapsed at 54 runs. Priya (17) and Palvi (12) were the main contributors.
At MHAC School Nagbani, Andhra Pradesh defeated Uttar Pradesh by 24 runs IN Under-17 Girls Cricket. Andhra Pradesh scored 93 runs, while Uttar Pradesh in reply scored 69 runs.
At KC Public School, Goa trounced Punjab by 9 wickets. Punjab scored 47 runs while Goa in reply chased the target by losing 1 wicket.
Meanwhile, in Under-19 boys Tennis Cricket at Green Field ground, Gandhi Nagar IPSC drubbed Uttar Pradesh by 9 wickets. Uttar Pradesh scored 50 runs in 8 overs, while IPSC chased the target by losing 1 wicket only.
In another Tennis Cricket Under-19 Boys match at green Field, J&K thrashed IPSC by 9 wickets. IPSC scored paltry total of 14 runs, while J&K chased the target by losing one wicket.
CBSE defeated Telangana by 30 runs in yet another Under-19 Boys Tennis Cricket match at Green Field ground. CBSE scored 77 runs, while Telangana bundled out for 37 runs.
In Under-19 Girls Tennis Cricket, Delhi got better of Gujarat by 6 wickets. Gujarat scored 63 runs, while Delhi chased the target by losing 4 wickets.
