JAMMU, Dec 15: Defeating their rivals convincingly in the semifinals today, CRPF and Punjab have sealed berths in the finals and will take on each other in the summit clash of the 65th All India Police Hockey Championship, being played at KK Hakhu Astroturf Hockey Stadium, here tomorrow.
In the first semifinal, CRPF got better of ITBP by five goals to four (5-4) via tie-breaker. Both the teams finished goalless in the stipulated time and the decision of the match was left to tie-breakers, wherein CRPF emerged winner. For CRPF, Rajinder Singh and Arun Minz netted 2 goals each, while Sanjay Ekka scored one goal. For ITBP, the goal scorers were Jaswinder Singh, Harwinder Singh, Siraj Aalam and Jaswinder Singh.
AK Choudhary, MD Police Housing Corporation was the chief guest in this match.
The match was officiated by Vijay Kumar and Deepak Kumar as umpires, Joginder Singh and MS Reen were the judges and Feroz Ahmed Khan was the technical officer.
In another semifinal, Punjab defeated BSF by two goals to nil (2-0). For Punjab, Satwinder Singh scored both the goals in 32nd and 52nd minutes. BSF players tried their level best to score a goal, but failed in their efforts.
Munir Ahmed Kahn, IGP Crime was the chief guest in this match.
Anand Dangi and Ravinder Kharab were the match umpires, Sham Lal and Aman Singh Negi were the judges, while VP Singh was the technical officer.
In tomorrow’s fixture, ITBP will take on BSF in the hardliner match at 9 am, while Punjab will meet CRPF in the summit clash at 2 pm.
According to the organizers, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti will be the chief guest in the valedictory function after the final match.
