JAMMU, Dec 18: Winning maximum gold medals, Punjab dominated in the 5th Body Lifting Championship, organized by All J&K Body Lifting Association at Amarnath Yatri Bhawan, here today.
Anil Gupta, president JKDF was the chief guest on the occasion, who underlining the importance of sports activities for shaping overall personality of the youth.
Gupta JKDF stressed on the need for promoting sports culture by holding regular championships and tournaments especially in remote areas of the State.
The function was attended by our very special guests M.Y. Kichroo SSP Vigilance Jammu, Shoket Hussain Kazmi and President of AJKBLA, Jt Controller Legal Metrology Deptt Amar Singh and J.S.Manhas Principal Sri SRMS .
The Indian Bodylifting federation officials Dr Randhir hastir ,Dr Raj Hastir , Gen Secy. Sh. G.L. Sharma ,Amit Dutta, Suresh Paul and Rakesh Kumar were also present in this championship.
On the occasion number of participants from different states under various weight categories performed in this championship.
Anil Gupta distributed mementos to the winners and runner ups and wished them good luck for future endeavour.
The gold medal winners in various age categories in men’s section included Karamjit Singh of Punjab, Jagroop Singh of Punjab, Chand Singh of Punjab, Davinder Singh of Punjab, Hemant Kumar of Haryana, Rahul Bhati of UP and Yadwinder Singh of Punjab, while in women’s category, the gold medals went to Seema Mandal of West Bengal and Rita Singh of Delhi.
