ROHTAK, Mar 21: Punjab eked out a narrow three-wicket win over Services in their Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Twenty20 match, which went down to the last over here today.
In the North Zone encounter, Punjab chased down the target of 115 with five balls to spare at the Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium.
Opting to field on winning the toss, Punjab restricted Services to 114 for nine, with leg-spinner Rahul Sharma returning best figures of three for 20 in four overs.
There were two wickets apiece for pacer Manpreet Singh and Rajwinder Singh.
For Services, opener Sumit Singh top-scored with 25, while his partner Anshul Gupta made 22.
Defending a small total, Services fought hard with their bowlers striking at regular intervals, but useful contributions from skipper Mandeep Singh (27), Taruwar Kohli (22) and Mayank Sidhana (20) ensured Punjab’s victory.
After his three-wicket effort, Sharma remained not out on 10, helping his team complete a successful chase.
Shadab Nazar and Ritesh Negi picked up two wickets each for Services. (PTI)
