Puneet’s ton helps Simula to lift CII T20 Cup

JAMMU, Jan 14: Magnificent 111 runs off just 59 balls by Puneet Kumar guided Simula XI to register convincing win over HDFC Bank in the final match of ongoing CII T-20 Corporate Cricket League, being played at KC Sports Club Ground, here today.
The CII T-20 Corporate Cricket League was organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
Batting first, Simula XI scored 200 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Puneet was the top scorer with 111 runs, hitting 9 fours and 8 sixes while Atul contributed valuable 59 runs. For HDFC Bank, Khalid  Mehraj, Adnan and Waseem took 1 wickets each.
HDFC Bank were bundled out for 118 runs, thus lost the match by 82 runs. Abhinav, Ritik and Vikram took 2 wickets each. Puneet Kumar was declared as the man of the match, man of the series and best batsman of the League.
On the valedictory function, Dr Nirmal Singh, Deputy Chief Minister, Rahul Sahai, Chairman CII J&K State Council and Rajesh Sharma, Director SRA Foods Pvt Ltd presented the trophies to winning and runners-up team.
Speaking on the occasion, the Dy CM said that sports is beneficial for physical health and participation in it can positively affect mental health of young generation.
Terming sports as an essential element in maintaining a balance between mind, body and soul, the Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, exhorted upon youth to espouse extracurricular activities for their personality development.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the Government has already initiated several flagship programmes in the sports sector which would be augmenting the existing infra besides adding the new ones.
Chairman, CII, Jammu and Kashmir Rahul Sahai, Member CII Rajesh Sharma, Director Sports KC Public School, Jammu, Arjun Choudhary and Executive Officer, CII, were present on the occasion.
