*Rana shines in Delhi’s win

MULAPADU (AP), Feb 25: Brilliant batting display by Shubham Singh Pundir and superb all-round show by skipper Parvez Rasool guided Jammu and Kashmir to an emphatic victory by 5 wickets in the ongoing Group ‘A’ match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 cricket tournament here.
Put into bat, Andhra Pradesh scored a fighting total of 146 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. KC Bharat top scored with 41 runs off 38 balls, including 3 fours and one six, while skipper Hanuma Vihari contributed 28 runs off 20 balls with 6 boundaries. Karan Sharma contributed quick-fire 22 runs while Ravi Teja made 20 runs. Girinath Reddy and Ricky Bhui also chipped in with 15 and 10 runs respectively. From Jammu and Kashmir, Ram Dayal was the pick of the bowlers, who took 2 important wickets by conceding 23 runs in his 4 overs, while skipper Parvez Rasool gave away 19 runs in his 4 overs by taking one wicket. Young speedster, Mujtaba Yousuf also claimed one wicket.
In reply, J&K rode on a magnificent batting show by the trio of Shubham Pundir, Parvez Rasool and youngster Abdul Samad and chased the target in 18.3 overs by losing 5 wickets. Pundir who played a brilliant innings of 68 runs against formidable Delhi yesterday, again scored splendid half-century (51 off 36 balls) today, hiting 6 fours and one six, while Rasool made valuable 31 off 22 deliveries with 1 four and 2 sixes. Young opener Abdul Samad contributed 30 runs off 25 balls, studded with 3 fours and one six. Manzoor Dar (10) and Irfan Pathan (2) were at the crease at the time of victory.
From AP, Karan Sharma took 2 wickets by conceding 30 runs in his 3 overs, while Ayyappa Bandaru also took 2 wickets by conceding 23 runs in his 4 overs. Girinath Reddy claimed one wicket.
With this win J&K earned 4 points, while AP failed to secure any point.
The J&K team is being accompanied by Vinod Sharma as manager, Milap Mewada as coach, Javid as assistant coach, Pankaj Sasun as trainer and Sheikh Suhail as video analyst.
Meanwhile, in another match of Group A, Nitish Rana’s unbeaten half-century guided Delhi to a seven-wicket win over Kerala.
Kerala scored 139 for 7 in 20 overs, while Delhi made 140/3 to win the match match easily by 7 wickets.
