JAMMU, Nov 20: Pune University, Jammu University, Mumbai University and EDU Board scripted convincing wins in their respective league matches and sailed into the next round of the ongoing All India Vice-Chancellor’s T-20 Cricket Tournament at Jammu University, here today.
In the first league match, Pune University registered 6 wickets victory over DDU, Gorakhpur at Jammu University main gate ground, here today.
Batting first, after winning the toss, DDU, Gorakhpur, scored 86 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Surinder Yadav chipped in 31 runs, while, Sandeep and Ravi made 14 runs each.
For Pune University side, Sunil and Nathua claimed 2 wickets each, while, Nitin took one wicket.
In reply, Pune University chased the target easily in just 14.1 overs with 2 wickets still in the kitty. Vinod was the top scorer with 24 runs, while, Nitin and Sunil also contributed 22 and 18 runs respectively.
For DDU, Gorakhpur side, Surinder scalped 2 wickets, while, Manish and Rahul claimed one wicket apiece.
In second league match, Jammu University thrashed Jalgaon University by a huge margin of 55 runs at Jammu University main gate ground, here today.
Jammu University won the toss and elected to bat first and set a huge target of 162 runs infront of its opponent team for the loss of 8 wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Vishal played well and chipped in some crispy shots in his 46 runs contribution to the total, whereas, Rajesh also made 31 runs. Amit and Skipper Daud Iqbal Baba also smashed 13 runs each.
For Jalgaon University side, Jitu claimed 4 wickets haul by giving just 21 runs in his four over spell, while, Shashi, Jadhab and Arun took one wicket apiece.
In second inning, Jalgaon University failed to chase the pace of Jammu University bowlers and bundled out at 107 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in allotted 20 overs.
For Jammu University side, Nirayan was the wrecker-in-chief who scalped 3 wickets by giving just 12 runs in his 4 over spell, while, Rajesh and Pawan took 2 and one wicket respectively.
In the third league match, Mumbai University outplayed MANUU, Hyderabad by a huge margin of 113 runs at Gymnasium Hall ground, Jammu University.
Batting first, Mumbai University scored a huge score of 203 runs for the loss of just 4 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Enthusiastic Anil Ghadshi played well and chipped in some crispy shots in his 80 runs contribution to the total including 11 boundaries and 2 sixes. Chanderkant and Attaullah also made 45 and 39 runs respectively.
For MANUU University side, Abdul, Mahesh and Sheikh claimed one wicket each.
In reply, MANUU University failed to chase the target and bundled out at just 90 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Yousaf Khan was the highest scorer with 30 runs, while, Muthyal scored 21 runs.
For Mumbai University side, Shrikant claimed 5 wickets haul in his four over spell, while, Sanjay Pawar and Nand Kumar scalped 2 and one wicket respectively.
In the last league match of the day, Edu Board, Ajmer registered 7 wickets victory over SKUAST, Jammu at Gymnasium Hall ground, Jammu University.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, SKUAST, Jammu scored 111 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Shams-ud-Din was the top scorer with 58 runs, while, Abbas also contributed 16 runs.
For Edu Board, Ajmer side, Shalinder and Vinod scalped 2 wickets each, while, Vijay and Harsh took one wicket apiece.
In the second inning, Edu Board, Ajmer chased the target easily in 18.4 overs for the loss of 3 wickets. Vinod chipped in 42 runs, while, Avinash and Harsh made 30 and 14 runs respectively.
For SKUAST, Jammu side, Manjeet, Anoop and Rakesh took one wicket each.
The matches were officiated by Saleem-ur-Rehman, Sadiq Hussain, Rajeev Sharma, Suresh Singh, Rajesh, Vijay Dogra, Mohan Lal, Chandu Kiran, Vinod and Raman.
Manwhile, Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, Vice Chancellor, Jammu University along with Prof Naresh Padha, Registrar and Jaikumar Sharma, OSD to Vice-Chancellor visited the Main Gate Ground and Gymnasium Hall Ground and expressed satisfaction over the arrangements put in place.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Kashmir University will take on Pune University, and IGNOU, Delhi will clash with GB Pant University at University Main Gate ground, whereas, HPU, Shimla will take on MANUU, Hyd and MDS University, Ajmer will clash with PU, Chandigarh at Gymnasium Hall Ground.
