PU, JU, MU, SKUAST Kashmir script resounding wins

JAMMU, Nov 22: Pune University (PU), Jammu University (JU), Mumbai University (MU) and SKUAST, Kashmir scripted resounding wins in their league matches and entered into the next round of the ongoing All India Vice-Chancellor’s T-20 Cricket Tournament held at Jammu University, here today.
In the first league match, Pune University registered 5 wickets victory over Jamia Milia University (JMU), Delhi at Jammu University main gate ground.
Batting first after winning the toss, JMU, Delhi scored 119 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Adeel Ahmed played a wonderful inning and chipped in 52 runs including three boundaries and one six. Mohd Usam and Wajal Ullah Khan also contributed 25 and 12 runs respectively.
For Pune University side, Santosh was the pick of the bowler with 3 wickets, while Sunil, Sachin and Santosh took one wicket each.
In reply, Pune University chased the target in 18.3 overs with five wickets still in hands. Nitin Parsad chipped in 45 runs, while, Vinod and Arvind scored 28 and 20 runs respectively.
For JMU Delhi side, Sanjay and Saad Karimi took 2 wickets each, while, Mohd Yousaf pocketed one wicket.
Nitin M Parsad was adjudged as man of the match for his performance during the match.
In the second league match, Jammu University stunned PAU, Ludhiana by a huge margin of 69 runs and sailed into the next round of the tourney at Jammu University main gate ground, here today.
Jammu University won the toss, elected to bat first and set a huge target of 183 runs in front of its opponent team for the loss of just 4 wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Enthusiastic Raj Kumar smashed hard shots and made 60 runs including seven balls towards the fence and 3 sixes. Akash Bhola, Rajesh and Skipper Daud Iqbal Baba also contributed 43, 26 and 15 runs respectively.
For PAU University side, Surinder, Krishan and Parvee took one wicket apiece.
In the second inning, PAU Ludhiana failed to chase the target and bundled out at 114 runs for all out in 19.3 overs. Jagtar Chand chipped in 37 runs, while Krishan Kumar scored 17 runs. Vinod and Rajinder also contributed 14 runs each.
For Jammu University side, Pawan Singh and Niranjan Singh were the wrecker-in chiefs who scalped 3 wickets each, while, Raj Kumar and Rajesh claimed one wicket apiece.
Raj Kumar was declared as man of the match for his batting performance.
In the third league match, Mumbai University registered 51 runs victory over Edu Board, Ajmer and sailed into next round of the tournament at Gymnasium Hall ground, Jammu University.
Mumbai University batting first scored 157 runs for all out in allotted 20 overs. Anil made 38 runs, while Ashok, Sanjay and Manohar chipped in 33, 21 and 19 runs respectively.
For Edu Board Ajmer side, Vinod scalped four wickets haul by giving just 31 runs in his four over spell, while, Vijay also claimed 3 wickets. Ram and Shailender took one wicket apiece.
While batting, Edu Board, Ajmer failed to reach the target and scored 106 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in stipulated 20 overs.
For Mumbai University side, Chander Kant scalped 3 wickets, while, Shrikant, Sanjay B and Sanjay P took one wicket each.
Chander Kant was adjudged as man of the match for his good bowling performance.
In the fourth and last league match of the day, SKUAST Kashmir thrashed Delhi University by 7 wickets at Gymnasium Hall ground, Jammu University.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Delhi University scored 138 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Sanjay played a wonderful innings and made 55 runs, while, Narinder and Sanjay K scored 32 and 19 runs respectively.
For SKUAST Kashmir side, Mudasir and Ayoub took 2 wickets each, while, Abdul Majid and Sajjad scalped one wicket apiece.
In the second inning, 64 runs contribution by Gowhar made SKUAST Kashmir to register 7 wickets victory over Delhi University in just 17.5 overs. Gowhar displayed a marvelous batting performance and chipped in 64 runs including 2 boundaries and 6 lofty sixes. Imtiyaz and Rifat also made 33 and 19 runs respectively.
For Delhi University side, Dinesh, Bahadur and Pardeep took one wicket apiece.
The matches were officiated by Pankaj Sasan, Mohan Lal, Yogesh Sharma, Raman Dogra, Harbinder, Amit, Chandh Kiran and Suresh Singh.
On the occasion, Dr Shalinder Singh Jamwal, Dr Poonam Sethi, Medical Officer, Ashwani Bakshi, Joint Secretary of JUNTEU, officials of jammu university and sports lovers were also present.
In tomorrow’s fixture, IGNOU, Delhi will clash with Jalgaon University and JMI, Delhi will take on DDU, Gorakhpur at Jammu University Main Gate ground, whereas, HPU, Shimla will clash with SKUAST, Jammu and PU, Patiala will take on PU, Chandigarh at Gymnasium Hall Grounds.
The matches were held under the supervision of Sunil Sahi, President, Jammu University Non-Teaching Employees Union (JUNTEU) and manager Jammu University team.
