Promoting sports crucial for streamlining youth in J&K: DDC Chairman

JAMMU, Oct 5: Bharat Bhushan DDC Chairman Jammu today stressed on the crucial need of promoting sports among youngsters to channelize their energy towards nation building besides ensuring that they remain away from the scourge of intoxication, which is eating up the vitals of society.
The DDC Chairman was speaking during a cricket match played between Josh Team and Mahadev Team here at Country Cricket Stadium Gharota. The match was played in the memory of Anku Baba.
Chief guest on the occasion, Bharat Bhushan said that the onus of people who are in their second innings is to hone the skills of youth through providing right platform at right time to generation next to channelize their energy in the right direction so that the youth can become meaningful citizens in the coming time and help in raising India as the strong nation of the world. He described the youths as architects of the nation and the UT. He pointed out that in the present competitive world the young people must attain versatility that alone could place them in good stead.
The DDC Chairman said that many States in the country are combating substance abuse among youths therefore it is necessary that young blood in the UT is nurtured with facilities to adopt sports and academics as careers and not drugs and destruction. He applauded the organizers of the cricket match for the endeavour and asked them not to miss any opportunity to hold such games and matches.
Earlier, he was introduced with the captains of both the teams namely Kavit Manhas of Josh team and Vikas Sharma of Mahadev team.
The organizers of the match include Nikhil Sharma, Sanjeev Singh and Bikram Singh.
Others who were present include Mandal Pardhan Ashok Kerni and Mandal General Secretary Narinder Singh.
