JAMMU, Jan 3: Project Sampark celebrated its 39th Raising Day with great fervour and enthusiasm.
The Project was raised on January 1, 1965 with an aim to develop and maintain the operational road infrastructure of Armed Forces in Border Areas of the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Project started with maintenance/construction of 500 Km of roads in the border districts of Jammu, Kathu, Doda, Udhampur, Rajouri, Reasi and Poonch.
Project Sampark is now maintaining/constructing approximately 3200 Km of road network falling in the States of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
The week long celebrations started with inter-unit sports competitions.
The Chief Engineer UC Mehta recounted the past achievement, sacrifices and exhorted the troops to achieve highest glory.
