RAJOURI, Nov 29: The 16-member football team of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) was flagged off by Vice Chancellor, Prof Irshad A Hamal for participation in the North Zone Inter-University Championship.
Being hosted by Punjab University Chandigarh, under the aegis of Association of Indian Universities, the team left University under the captainship of Tafasul Irshad of B Tech 7th Semester of Electronic and Communication Department of College of Engineering and Technology of the University for participating in this championship which is commencing from November 30 and will culminate on December 10, 2014.
Sahil Kundal, a Civil Engineering student was nominated as vice captain of the team.
R C Bhat of BGSB University is accompanying the team as manager-cum-coach.
In the opening tie the BGSBU team will face Haridwar University tomorrow.
A warm send off the Football team was organized by the University’s Physical Education and Sports Department here at University Campus today.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Hamal highlighted the importance of Games and Sports in day to day life of the youth.
He asserted that the Sports teach us discipline, leadership quality and above all Sportsman spirit, friendship, brother hood in the field of sports.
Prominent among those who were present on the occasion were Prof A K Koul, Dean Academic Affairs, Mohammad Ishaq Chowdhary, Controller of Examination, Suneet Gupta, Special Secretary to Vice Chancellor, V M Sharma, Deputy Registrar Finance, Mohammad Din, Deputy Director Physical Education and Sports, Shakeel Chowdhary and R K Bhan.
