JAMMU, July 29: Players continued to vie for top positions in Inter School District Level Competitions being organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports in Jammu and Kathua districts.
In District Jammu, the competitions in the disciplines of Badminton U-19 Girls and Thang-tha U-19 Boys concluded here today at MA Stadium Indoor Complex.
Results: In Badminton U-19 Girls, Presentation Convent won the title trophy by beating APS Domana by 2-0 set. Naman Mansotra defeated Harishta Yadav by 21-12 and 21-08 in Singles while in Doubles, Naman and Amishka thrashed Harishta Yadav and Sonali Choudhary by 21-09 and 21-07. Earlier in 1st semi-final, Presentation Convent beat APS Kaluchak by 2-0 set and APS Domana defeated APS Jammu Cantt by 2-0 set.
In Tang-tha U-19 Boys, Gopal Mehra of SM Jain HSS excelled in -50 Kg category, Aftab Hussain of KV Sunjwan won in -54 Kg, Vikrant of Green Wood stood 1st in -58 Kg, Narayan Sharma of Adarsh Niketan bagged 1st position in -62 Kg, Surinder Salathia of May Fair won in -66 Kg and Prakhyal Chalotra of JK Public School secured 1st position in +66 Kg.
In Kathua district, the competitions of Judo for U-19 Boys and Girls were organized today at Sports Stadium Hiranagar. As many as 42 students of 13 schools of district took part in today’s event. In -40 Kg, Mohd Gafoor of HSS Kathera stood 1st while Mushtaq Ahmed of HSS Jakhbar won in -45 Kg. In -50 Kg, Anirudh Singh of KV Kathua bagged 1st position while titles of -55 Kg, -60 Kg and -65 Kg were lifted by Bagh Hussain of HSS Marheen, Vishav Jeet Singh of RSJN Kathua and Mohd Jonus of HSS Kathua, respectively.
