POONCH, Aug 25: A Table Tennis Tournament in junior, under-14 and under-19 categories was organized by the Alfa TT Club Poonch in collaboration with Nanak Academy Purani Poonch, here today.
Deputy Chairman J&K Legislative Council, Jahangir Hussain Mir was the chief guest on the occasion.
In junior, under-14 and under-19 groups, Pratham Sharma, Faisal Mir and Neeraj won the final matches respectively.
While interacting with the players, Mir said that the sports and other co-curricular activities play a vital role in the development of health and personality. He exhorted upon the youth to take part in such activities.
He stressed on providing conducive environment to the youth, so as to keep them away from the social evils including drugs.
Among others present were Nariender Singh, Manager Alfa TT Club, Nareinder Mohan, Principal Girls HSS Poonch, Gurbaksh Singh, Manager Nanak Academy and physical education teachers.
Vijay Sharma conducted the proceedings of the tournament.
Later, the trophies to the winners and the runners up were awarded by the Jahangir Hussain Mir.
