POONCH, Mar 23: Police Sports Festival 2018, organized by Poonch Police under Civic Action Program (CAP) with the slogan “Choose life not Drugs” commenced at Sports Stadium, here today.
In the Festival, sports events including Volleyball, Badminton, Kabaddi, Carrom, Kho-Kho, Tug of War shall be held at Poonch, Mendhar, Surankote, Gursai, Mandi and Loran.
The Festival was inaugurated by Deputy Commander Col MS Sabarwal along with SSP Poonch Rajiv Pandey.
ASP Anwar ul Haq, DySP (DAR) Mohan Sharma, DySP Shahied Nayeem, prominent citizens, media persons and a huge gathering of sports lovers was present on the opening ceremony of the Festival.
Sabbarwal while speaking on the occasion applauded the initiative of Poonch Police under the patronage of DGP Dr SP Vaid for conducting sports festival for the youths in different sports disciplines with the objective to provide them platform so that they can exhibit their talent and hone their skills.
SSP Poonch on the occasion said that the main objective of Jammu and Kashmir Police in organizing these sports events is to keep the youth engaged in constructive and productive purposes.
He also called upon the local youth, sports staff, general public and media fraternity in making this venture a success.
