Poonch lifts Inter-District U-19 Boys Hockey title

JAMMU, Oct 24: Outplay-ing Jammu by three goals to one (3-1) in the summit clash, District Poonch lifted the title trophy of the Under-19 Boys Hockey Tournament, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the patronage of its Director General, Jehangir Mir at KK Hakhu Astroturf Hockey Stadium, here.
Poonch boys dominated the match from the word go and scored goals in both the half’s.
From Poonch, Manpreet was the star performer, who scored 2 splendid goals, while Sudesh Kumar netted another one, while from Jammu, Pankaj scored the lone goal.
Earlier in 1st semifinal, Jammu defeated Samba by three goals to one (3-1). Tanishpreet scored brilliant 2 goals and Randeep netted 1 goal from Jammu. Varun was the goal scorer from Samba.
In 2nd semifinal, Poonch drubbed  Baramulla by three goals to one (3-1).  Ramandeep scored 2 goal and Nazakat netted 1 goal for Poonch, while for Baramulla, Harvinder Singh was the goal scorer.
The prizes were distributed among the winners and runners-up teams by Veer Ji Bhat, Zonal Physical Education Officer, Jourian.
The matches were officiated by Jagjit Singh, Mandeep Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Karanjeet Singh and Satinder Singh.
