Police Martyrs Memorial Volleyball Tournament gets underway

UDHAMPUR, Apr 30: The 3rd Police Martyrs Memorial Volleyball Tournament got underway in an impressive, colourful and well attended function at Mini Stadium, here today.
An exhibition match was played on the inaugural function between Shaheed Manjeet Singh Volleyball Club Poonch and Raman Volleyball Club Billawar.
DIG, Udhampur-Reasi Range, Garib Dass, was the chief guest, while Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Yasha Mudgel was also present on the occasion.
The pictures of the Police Martyrs who had laid down their lives during the turmoil of more than two decades of militancy were displayed on the occasion.
A two minute silence was observed to pay homage to Police Martyrs.
Earlier, SSP Udhampur gave brief report of the tournament and said that 10 prominent teams are participating in the tournament which included Poonch, Jammu, Ramban, Udhampur, Ganderbal, Baramulla, Reasi, Kathua.
The first match of the tournament was played between Shaheed Manjeet Singh Volleyball Club Poonch and Pintoo Volleyball Club.
