JAMMU, Apr 14: Outplaying Department of Hindi by 7 wickets, the Department of Political Science advanced in to the next round of the ongoing Inter-Department Cricket Tournament, being organized by the University of Jammu at Varsity ground, here today.
Earlier, batting first, Hindi Department scored a modest total of 90 runs in 16.1 overs, with extras contributing highest 37 runs. Mushtaq Ahmed top scored with 21 runs, while Ommet contributed 17 runs to the total. Arjun also chipped in with 8 runs. Saqib was the pick of the bowlers for Political Science Department, who scalped 3 important wickets by conceding 24 runs in his 4 overs, while Zain and Narinder claimed 2 wickets each.
In reply, Political Science Department scored the required runs in 14.1 overs, losing 3 wickets in the process, thus won the match by 7 wickets. Sakeel Ahmed and Abhishek contributed with 23 and 20 runs respectively, while Naveel and Zaheen Ahmed chipped in with 14 and 13 runs respectively. For Hindi Department, Sunil took 2 wickets, while Omeet claimed one.
The match was officiated by Suresh Singh, Vijay Dogra, Manu Khajuria and Raj Kumar Bakshi.
