JAMMU, Oct 20: Chief coach, Kuldeep Handoo and the players of Indian Wushu team were felicitated by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi in a programme organized by the Union Sports Ministry at his residence in Race Course, New Delhi recently.
Inspector Kuldeep Handoo, National Coach of India accompanied the Indian team for the 17th Asian Games at Incheon Korea.
Indian Wushu team bagged 2 bronze medals in the Games. Y Sanathoi Devi and Narender Grewal bagged bronze medals in Sanshou event.
It is pertinent to mention here that prior to participation of Indian Wushu team in the Asian Games, the National Coaching Camp was held at SAI Bhopal from April 5, 2014 to September 15, 2014.
It was for second consecutive time that Kuldeep Handoo had accompanied the Indian team for the Asian Games.
Kuldeep Handoo State/Sher-e-Kashmir Awardee has the distinction of securing more than 70 medals as coach in the World /Asian/Asiad Championships. Handoo has been recommended for Dronacharya Award by the Wushu Association of India more than 5 times. He is working as Sports Officer in J&K Police.
