JAMMU, Dec 22: Pink Panthers defeated Super Strikers by 13 runs in the going Royal Women Cricket Tournament, being played at Government College for Women Gandhi Nagar, here today.
The match between Super Strikers and the Pink Panthers was a thrilling contest. After winning the toss, Pink Panthers decided to bat first and scored 80 runs. Sarla contributed 37 runs for the team while Sapna made 12 runs. Aditi, Bushara and Sandhya took two wickets each for Super Strikers.
In reply, the Super Strikers failed to chase the target given by the opponent team and lost the match by 13 runs. Rudrakshi scored 19 while Aditi contributed 10 runs. For bowling side, Anvi took five wickets by conceding just 8 runs in 3.1 overs while Pushpa took two wickets for the team.
The tournament organized by the Royal Women Cricket Club under the supervision of president of the Club, Veena Sharma, treasurer Anita Gupta, Shambhu Nath Sharma and Dr Rupali Salathia.
Tarun Uppal chairperson Nirbhay Bharat Foundation was the chief guest while Gulshan Ratan was the guest of honour and Naveen Kaul was the special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Tarun Uppal called upon the women players to participate in sports activities wholeheartedly and bring laurels to the nation and the Union Territory. He said there is no dearth of talent among the youth, adding that there is need of the hour to channelize it in the right direction.
