JAMMU, Mar 22: efeating Law School and MCA Departments in men and women section respectively, Physical Education Department lifted the title trophies in the Inter-Department Table Tennis Tournament, organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, here.
Earlier, in men’s section, The Law School beat ICCCR & HRM by 2- 0. Karman Johal defeated Abhinav Gupta by 11-03, 6-11, 11-09, while in doubles, Akshay Bashin outplayed Ayush by 11-09, 11-5.
In the 2nd semifinal, Physical Education got better of History Department by 2-0. In singles, Ankit Sharma prevailed over Vikas Singh by 11-0, 11-05, while in doubles, Narinder Sharma trounced Shubham Singh by 11-08, 15-13.
In women’s section final, Physical Education Department beat MCA Department by 2-1. In singles, Shibali Bhau lost to Manvi Jasrotia by 3-11, 11-09, 11-06, while Pooja Sharma drubbed Harpreet Kour by 13-11, 11-09. In doubles, Shibali and Pooja defeated Manvi and Harpeet by 13-11, 11-09.
In men section final, Physical Education Department beat The Law School by 2-1. In singles, Ankit Sharma defeated Karman Johal by 11-07, 11-09 and Narinder Sharma lost to Anshul by 9-11, 08-11, while in doubles, Ankit and Narinder trounced Karman and Anshul by 11-09,8-11, 11-09.
The matches were officiated by Ravish Vaid, Manmohan Sharma, Sushil Kumar, Gagan Kumar and PD Singh.
In Inter-Department Chess (Women), Geography Department beat Economics Department by 2-0, while in Inter-Department Chess (Men), Geology Department trounced Geography Department by 2-1, Economics Department outplayed Environment Science Department by 2-0 and Mathematics Department drubbed Commerce Department by 2-1.
