JAMMU, May 2: Outplaying their respective rivals convincingly in the summit clashes, Physical Education Department and Mathematics Department clinched volleyball men and carrom men titles respectively in the Jammu University’s Inter-Department Tournament, which concluded at University Gymnasium, here today.
In volleyball (men), Physical Education Department drubbed Geology Department by (2-0) sets by (25-17, 25-15) and lifted the title.
In carom (men) final, Mathamatics Department got better of M C A Department by (2-1), in which Sahil (Math) beat Nasir (MCA); Vanketeshwar (MCA) trounced Nitan (Math) and the pair of Nitan and Sahil outplayed Nasir and Vanketeshwar.
Earlier, in carom (men) semifinals, Mathematics Department prevailed over The Law School by (2-1), with Sahil (Math) beating Harit (The Law School), Mohit (The Law School) getting better of Nitan (Math) and
the duo of Nitan and Sahil prevailing over Mohit and Harit.
The matches were officiated by Raj Kumar Bakshi, Ravish Vaid, Gagan Kumar and Vikas Karlopia.
Others present at the venue were P D Singh, Jai Bharat and Nisha Sharma.
The Tournament was organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, under the overall supervision of Prof Dhian Singh Bhau, Chairman Campus Sports Committee, University of Jammu.
Badminton (Men & Women) and Chess (Men & Women) Tournaments will be held from May 5, 2014 at Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu.
