PG Department, GDC Udhampur enter semis in Inter-Collegiate TT Tourney

JAMMU, Aug 27: Beating their rivals convincingly in the quarterfinals, PG Department and GDC Udhampur entered the semifinals in men’s section of the ongoing Inter-Collegiate Table Tennis (M&W) Tournament, being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at its Gymnasium Hall, here today.
Earlier, in the 1st quarterfinal, PG Department defeated GDC Paloura by 3-0. Koushek Gupta beat Gourav Singh (2-0), Shubham Kumar trounced Hemant Sharma by 2-0 and Digvijay Singh drubbed Laksh Khajuria by 2-0, while in the second quarterfinal, GDC Udhampur defeated GDC Kathua by (3-0). Akashdeep defeated Gulcharan Singh by2-0, Mannat Arora trounced Vishal Pathania by 2-0 and Rajat Khajuria prevailed over Taranjeet Singh by 2-0.
GMC got walkover against GDC Bhaderwah and MAM College got walkover against Trikuta Degree College.
In women’s section, GCW Parade beat PG Department by 3-0. Shruti R. Sharma drubbed Pooja Sharma by 2-0, Sonalika Sharma beat Shibali Bhau by 2-1 and Sandeep Kour got better of Neeru Manhas by 2-0.
Govt. SPMR College of Commerce beat GDC Kathua by 3-2. Rachita lost to Swati Sharma by 0-2.  Simran lost to Mehak by 0-2, Ananya prevailed over Sakshi by 2-0, Simran drubbed Swati by 2-0 and Rachita beat Mehak by 2-0.
The matches were officiated by Ravish Vaid, Gourav Sharma, Amit Sharma and Kumar Tarun under the overall supervision of Prof. D.S. Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
