Peddlers show serenity in Inter-Collegiate TT; semis position cleared in Chess

JAMMU, Aug 24: Peddlers showed promise, serenity and displayed class, while semis position was cleared in the Inter-Collegiate Table Tennis (Men & Women) and Chess Championship, being organised by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education,  University of Jammu, here today.
In Table Tennis men, GGM Science College beat IDS Sehora by  3-0; GCET drubbed MIET College by 3-1; GDC Udhampur trounced GDC Ram Nagar by 3-0; YCET Jammu outplayed ASCOMS by 3-1 and GDC Paloura defeated Trikuta Degree College by  3-0, while in women section, GCW Parade beat GDC Paloura by 3-0.
The matches were officiated  by Ravish Vaid, Menu Rajesh, Gourav Sharma, Tanvir Singh and Kumar Tarun.
Meanwhile, semifinals lineup has been drawn in Inter-Collegiate Chess Championship in both men and women section.
In men’s section, GDC Udhampur prevailed over GGM Science College, Jammu by 2.5 – 1.5 points; GDC Samba defeated PG Department, Jammu University by 3-2 points and the match was decided through the best versus best game as it remained 2-2 draw; Govt MAM College, Jammu trounced GDC Kathua by 4-0 points, while in women’s section, PG Department, Jammu University outplayed GCW, Udhampur by 4-0 points; GCW, Kathua beat GCW, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu by  3-2 points. The match was decided through the best versus best game as it remained 2-2 draw.
The semifinal matches  will be  played tomorrow.
The  tournament is  being organized  by the  Directorate of Sports  and  Physical Education, University of  Jammu, under he overall supervision of Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia, Director, Directorate of Sports  and  Physical Education, University of  Jammu.
