KATRA, Nov 18: Experienced table tennis players as also young peddlers showed promise and displayed serenity while vying for the top honours on the second day of the Invitational Table Tennis tournament, being organized by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Katra in Shrine Board Sports Complex, here.
In Junior girls doubles, the duo of Mumtaz and Priyanka Devi (Amba Kids) defeated Jaani and Salathia (Dev Kids) by (11-8,11-9), while in another match, Priyanka and Mumtaz of Amba Kids defeated Muskan and Veepasha of DPS Katra by (11-8, 8-11 and 11-9). Amba Kids entered into the final of girls double matches.
In Junior men doubles, the pair of Karmanyu and Arjun Pujari DPS Katra defeated Amit and Aakash Deep of Amar Jyoti by (11-9, 8-11, 11-6), while Amba Kids boys Sandeep Kumar and Bharat defeated their rivals by (11-5, 11-9) to enter in to the finals.
In Sr men doubles, the duo of Sandeep Kumar and Bharat Bhushan defeated Sawan Kumar and Deepak Kumar in straight sets by (11-8, 11-7), while the pair of Yuvraj Singh and Amish Gupta of SMVD University Katra and Mannat and Chaahat of Zorawar T.T Club Reasi entered into the finals.
In Sr men singles, Shashi Kant Thapa of CRPF 6th Batallion drubbed Pranaya of Katra High Secondary School in straight sets by (11-6, 11-9).
The final matches and the prize distribution ceremony would be held on November 20, 2015, wherein Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB Katra will be chief guest.
