6th Baisakhi Cricket Cup commences

JAMMU, Apr 10: Parade Sports Club and KC Sports Club scripted empathic wins against their rivals on the opening day of the 6th Baisakhi Cricket Cup, which is being organized by Vishal Cricket Club in collaboration with Police Department at Parade Ground, here today.
In the inauguration ceremony, Ashwani Gupta Senior Cricketer of the State was the chief guest, whereas Ashish Singh Managing Director of Horizon Group of Companies was the guest of honour. Randhir Singh Cricket Coach, Manmeet Singh, Rajesh Tondon, Madan Mohan and Ajaz-ul-Rehman were also present on the occasion.
Rajesh Gill Chief Prosecuting Officer, Former Ranji Player and Organizing Secretary of the event presented the welcome address and brief details of the event.
Earlier in the first match, Parade Sports Club defeated Road Safety Department by 8 wickets. Batting first, Road Safety Department scored 145 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. Ishtiaq made 65 runs and Yasir scored 45 runs.
From the bowling side, Rohan and Dhruv took 2 wickets each while Sikka took 1 wicket.
In reply Parade Sports Club chased the target in 17 overs for the loss of 2 wickets thus won the match by 8 wickets. Yuvraj made 62 runs runs, while Nipun scored 44 runs and Anuj chipped in 25 runs.
From Road Safety Department side, Rajesh took 1 wicket.
Yuvraj was declared as Man of the Match.
In the second match, KC Sports Club defeated Star Studded Horizon Club by 4 wickets.
Batting first, Horizon Club scored 133 runs wherein Sahil Lalotra made 48 runs, Paras Sharma scored 16 runs.
From the bowling side, Arvind took 2 wickets while Abhishant, Sahil and Vicky scalped 1 wicket each.
In reply, KC Sports Club chased the target in 19 over by losing 6 wickets thus won the match by 4 wickets. Arvind made 32 runs, while Vishal Kanth scored 31 runs and Musaif chipped in 18 runs.
From Horizon Club side, Santbaksh, Savan and Anchal took 1 wicket each.
Arvind was declared as Man of the Match.
The matches were officiated by Vijay, Dyal and Jannu.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Vishal Cricket Club will take on Green Field Club and Simula Club will clash with Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor.
