JAMMU, July 23: National Secular Forum (NSF), Jammu University unit today organized a programme in University campus to celebrate the birth anniversary of Chander Shekhar Azad, who laid his life for the country.
Dr Vikas Sharma, State president, NSF, was the chief guest while Sukhdev Singh, working president of NSF, presided over the function. Both young leaders along with other activists of NSF paid tributes to Azad by garlanding his portrait.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vikas Sharma said that Chander Shekhar Azad was considered to be one of the most famous revolutionaries of the Bharatiya Independence movement. He said that Azad kept on fighting till the last bullet.
Sukhdev Singh while addressing the gathering, said that the sacrifices of such great people could not be ignored, which had secured freedom for the country and its people. He said that the real tributes to the martyrs would be eradicating evil prevailing in the society like drug addiction, female feticide and dowry. He exhorted the youth to refrain from drugs and intoxicants.
