Noose tightens against ex-Secretary Sports Council, goods & gadgets worth lakhs taken home

JAMMU, Aug 2: Former Secretary of the J&K State Sports Council Jawaid Shah, who was recently attached with GAD by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti after complaints of misappropriation and misuse of office surfaced against him is once again in news for the wrong reasons.
As reported earlier, Ex-Secretary had clandestinely taken away important files pertaining to purchases and recruitment from the office before relinquishing charge and for which the incumbent secretary has already placed three officials under suspension the notorious list of Jawaid has one more highlight.
Seeing the noose being tightened against Shah, the Assistant Store Keeper, Council Secretarit, Central Store, in a detailed report has brought to light the misuse of the official position by the Ex-Secretary by unauthorisedly taking away Government goods and gadgets including file bag, inspect tooler radro, laptop, double door refrigerator, Samsung mobile, power bank, pedestal fan, gas heater, desktop with UPS and printer, TV, scanner printer and some books worth lakhs of rupees home for personal use.
A inverter and batteries from Yoga Hall of MA Stadium, a five KV AC transformer and around two dozen flower pots bearing ornamental plants were also taken away by the Ex-Secretary.
Source from Council office at Srinagar revealed that the NOC to the outgoing Secretary has been stalled. Government has reportedly taken strong notice of these bundling and the role of Sports Council staff and coaches at Jammu and Srinagar who facilitated the loot of Council property is being investigated.
The council will soon made efforts to retrieve the goods from the ex-Secretary, sources added.
