NNHC outclasses MRSHC by 5-1 goals in opening match

JAMMU, Jan 12: Nanak Nagar Hockey Club (NNHC) outclassed Maharaja Ranjit Singh Hockey Club (MRSHC), Simbal Camp by 5-1 goals in the opening match of the 2nd Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sub- Junior Hockey Tournament, being organized by Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Foundation under the aegis of Hockey J&K, at KK Hakku stadium here today.
In the first half, the players of NNHC and MRSHC started playing passionately and restrained each other to score goal and raise the scoreboard.
However, in a breakthrough Tushar of NNHC after finding a gap netted the goal in the 5th minute of the first half and raised the lead on the opponent team by 1-0 goal.
After just 5 minutes of the first goal, Tushar again bounced back and scored another goal in the 10th minute and brought the opponent MRSHC under pressure.
As the players of MRSHC were trying to overcome the pressure by raiding on the goal side of opponent team, PS Gill of NNHC netted the goal during the 28th minute, just 2 minutes before the end of the first half, which served a jolt to the opponent team.
The players of MRSHC strived hard to equalize the scorecard but failed and the first half ended with 3-0 goals.
In the second half, players of MRSHC started playing man to man marking game but could not restrict the players of NNHC to net the goal as Sandeep Kumar score the goal and raised the lead by 4-0 goals over MRSHC.
However, Mandeep Singh of MRSHC scored the goal in the 40th minute and brought some respite for the team mates.
The enthusiastic player PS Gill of NNHC with his excellent sense of playing scored the goal in the 50th minute and totally shattered the dreams of MRSHC to win the game as it was very tough for them to equalize the score first and then raise the scoreboard in their favour in remaining 10 minutes of the second half.
The man to man marking game by the MRSHC failed to show any good results, which in other words proved beneficial for the NNHC team, which entered into the next round of the Championship by winning the match by 5-1 goals.
The match was officiated by Jagjit Singh, Joginder Singh, Jagjit Singh and GS Bakshi.
Earlier, the tournament was declared open by Dr Roop Lal Sharma, Member CCIM and Chairman Sri Sai Charitable trust, who while speaking said that Hockey is a national game and needs patronization to encourage the budding players. He assured all possible help to make the hockey popular among the youngsters. He declared that he will sponsor 2 best hockey players for graduation courses recommended by SBS Foundation. He further promised that next year this tournament will be organized at national level.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Taran Singh, President, Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Foundation stated that top 12 teams are taking part in this tournament and 11 matches including final match will be played between them.
Among others present were Romal Singh, secretary general, Hockey J&K, Manjit Singh, resident secretary, Hockey J&K, Avtar Singh, Davinder Bakshi, and Ravinder Singh.
