Nine year-old Yasha Bhan recites ‘Dogri Poem’ at House of Lords

JAMMU, Mar 28: Dogri made a point about the global scene during a World Poetry Day celebration held at the House of Lords of the British Parliament in London.
Nine year-old Yasha Bhan recited an interesting poem in Dogri on the theme Water, written by her mother Sulakshana Bhan. She was the youngest to recite a poem at such a significant occasion.
A colourful event featuring 20 languages from South and India was arranged at the British Parliament’s House of Lords and was hosted by Rt. Hon. Lord Dholakia, Deputy Leader of the House and organised by Sanskruti Centre for Cultural Excellence in association with APPG Modern Languages, the event marked the 25th year of UNESCO World Poetry Day.
On this occasion, poems, songs, dances, and other forms of cultural expression were showcased. Despite the bad weather, attendees travelled from all over in large numbers.
