Nikam, Suresh, Kapoor bag top three places

SRINAGAR, Oct 6: Ravinder Nikam of  MP, Suresh PK of Kerala and Deep Kapoor of Delhi bagged to three places in the 1st All India Level FIDE Rating Chess Tournament, which concluded at SP School, MA Road, here today.
ADGP, Dr SP Vaid was the chief guest on the valedictory function, who distributed a cash prize worth Rs 1,00000 and trophies among the winners on the occasion.
Around 100 players drawn from 15 States participated in the event, which was organized by All J&K Chess Association, under the aegis of All India Chess Federation, affiliated to World Chess Federation.
Debashish Barua, International Arbiter was the chief arbiter of the event, who was assisted by Rashmi Saini of Punjab.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Atul Kumar, All J&K Chess Association and joint secretary All India Chess Association, Baldev Raj, TS Gujral, Riyaz Ahmad Khan and M Akbar Malik.
Meanwhile, Sumit Grover bagged best J&K player award, while Khalid Amin emerged top scorer from Kashmir in the Tournament.
