JAMMU, Nov 19: National and International Footballers Forum (NIFF), J&K criticised the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association for selecting women players from outside J&K particularly from Haryana in Women Senior National Football team, here today.
In a handout issued by Advisor NIFF Ramesh Chander said that the development came a few days back at Jammu where JKFA had conducted open selection trials, followed by a coaching camp in which players from Haryana were seen taking part in the trials.
“Our women footballers are already lacking in every aspect and a lot of work needs to be done to uplift them but it is very unfortunate that JKFA has taken such a step that will further demoralise the women players of J&K,” said Ramesh Chander.
He also condemned the statement of JKFA general secretary claiming that the decision of inclusion of outside players was taken due to non availability of local players which shows failure of the JKFA in what they have done for women footballers over the years, he alleged.
“A big question arises if the talent of 20 meagre players is not available in J&K out of 1.30 crore population what work they have done for the last 16 years is clearly visible for everyone,” Chander added.
The NIFF urged the Advisor Farooq Kahn and Secretary JKSC, Nuzhat Gull to look into the matter of grave injustice to the players of J&K.
