JAMMU, Feb 12: National Development Foundation (NDF), Jammu in collaboration with Communication and Capacity Development Unit (CCDU) / Water & Sanitation Support Organization (WSSO), Department of PHE & IFC, Government of J&K conducted a skit competition on Water and sanitation.
ADC Jammu, Sushma Chauhan was the chief guest during the programme. The welcome address was presented by Tahira Parveen Principal Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Gandhi Nagar Jammu.
Sushma Chauhan also appreciated the efforts of children and messages delivered by them on Water and Sanitation through the medium of their skits. She asked the children to adopt and maintain hygienic techniques and distribute the message among others.
Children from 15 different schools of Jammu presented their skits regarding the importance of safe water. Skits also emphasized the importance of saving water and importance of proper sanitation to remain healthy.
Other dignitaries present were Dr Sudhir Mahajan, Kamal Sharma, Dr Arvinder Sharma, Sumit Sharma and Neeraj Sharma.
KV-II Jammu Cantt won the first prize of Rs 5000, Boys Higher Secondary School Sarwal won the second prize of Rs 3000 whereas Convent School Gandhi Nagar Jammu won third prize of Rs 2000. Prizes were also distributed among the other schools which participated in the programme.
The aim was to create awareness among the society about the importance of safe water & sanitation and ill effects of water borne diseases.
An Advocacy workshop of religious / opinion leaders was also organized by NDF and CCDU in Block Akhnoor. About 100 religious/ opinion leaders participated in the workshop.
