JAMMU, Mar 18: National Cricket Club and Jammu Cricket Club registered victories over their rivals to advance in the ongoing 1st Drug Free Youth Gharota T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Country Cricket Academy, under the overall supervision of its Director, Vivek Sharma, former Ranji Trophy player at Academy ground, Gharota here.
In the first match, National Cricket Club (NCC) defeated Friends Cricket Club (FCC) Bhalwal by 40 runs in an easy contest.
NCC won the toss and elected to bat and scored 124 for 8 in 20 overs. Gokul Baru and Amit Billowria scored 28 runs each, while Manish Dogra and Inderjeet Singh contributed 11 and 10 runs to the total respectively. For FCC, Kapil took 3 wickets by conceding 29 runs in his 4 overs, while Jatinder, Sangram and Ajay claimed one wicket each.
In reply, FCC collapsed at 84 runs in 19.2 overs, thus lost the match by 40 runs. Chotu was the top scorer with 21 runs, while Kapil and Raman contributed 15 and 13 runs to the total respectively. For NCC, Deepak Singh Manhas and Nitin Mehra scalped 3 wickets each, while Pranav and Vijay claimed 2 and one wicket respectively. Deepak Singh Manhas of NCC was declared as the man of the match for his brilliant bowling display.
In another match, Jammu Cricket Club trounced Shastri Cricket Club in an easy contest by 7 wickets.
Shastri Club winning the toss and batting first scored 99 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Amit was the top scorer with 31 runs, Sanju, Akash and Deepak contributed 15, 14 and 12 runs to the total respectively. For JCC, Aditya scalped 3 wickets, while Vikrant took 2. Paras Sharma was the top scorer with unbeaten 35 runs in 36 balls. Sandeep Singh (16), Hinan (15*), Sidharth Magotra (14) and Jaswinder (14) were the other notable contributors. For Shastri Club Avesh, Amit and Varun claimed one wicket each. Paras Sahrma was declared as the man of the match for his good knock.
