JAMMU, Jan 22: Power-packed 48-ball 87 runs by skipper Nadia Chowdhary and brilliant 4-wicket haul by medium pacer Heena Kouser helped Jammu and Kashmir to crush Association of Mizoram by a big margin of 123 runs in the ongoing Women’s Cricket Under-23 T20 Tournament, being played at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot in Gujarat.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, J&K rode on a superb batting display by Nadia to score a huge total of 191 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 4 wickets in the process. Nadia scored magnificent 87 runs, while Bismah Hassan and Rudrakshi Chib contributed valuable 34 and 27 runs respectively. Iqra Rasool remained unbeaten at 11 runs off just 7 balls, while extras contributed 23 runs to the total. Sandhya Kumari and Sawmi claimed one wicket each for Mizoram.
In reply, Association of Mizoram managed to score paltry 68 runs in the allotted overs by losing 6 wickets, thus lost the match by a big margin. Apart from the opening pair of skipper S. Yadav (23) and Sandhya Kumari (22), none of the other batswomen crossed the double figure mark. Wicketkeeper Priyambada (8) was the other notable scorer. Heena Kouser was the wrecker-in-chief from Jammu and Kashmir, who took 4 important wickets by conceding just 9 runs in her 4 overs, while Sadiya Wani and Nadia Chowdhary claimed one wicket each.
The Jammu and Kashmir team is being accompanied by Sakeena Akhter as manager, Anita Gupta as Assistant Manager, Roopali Slathia as Coach, Parveen Akhter as trainer and Sunakshi Mahajan as Phisio.
Chief Executive Officer JKCA, Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari and Member JKCA Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal, former Judge congratulated the players and the management for this big win.
