JAMMU, Feb 10: NSS & NCC Units of Government Degree College Khour in collaboration with Motor Vehicle Department, Regional Transport Officer Jammu organized awareness cum sensitization programme on ‘Road Safety’ in connection with the observation of National Road Safety month under the theme ‘Sadak Suraksha Jeevan Raksha’ here today.
The Chief Guest of the event was Esha Chib, ARTO Jammu. Addressing the students, Esha Chib shared some key aspects of Road Safety Knowledge viz, Understanding the meaning of traffic signs and signals, knowing and adhering to the speed limit to prevent accidents, anticipating potential hazards from defensive drivers, importance of wearing helmet, seat belt while driving etc.
Surinder Kumar, Inspector MVD displayed a video presentation to students regarding road safety. Ten students of the college participated in the symposium on the topic “Concern for Road Safety”. The senior faculty members of the College Prof Jozafeen Afzal & Prof. Seema Sudan acted as Jury members.
Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr) T K Sharma urged the students to be responsible citizens and obey traffic rules to ensure safety on roads. The programme culminated with the distribution of certificate of participation to all the participants and first three winners Shagun Choudhary, Bhavana Sharma & Mansi Sharma respectively were felicitated with mementos.
