JAMMU, Mar 25: The first-ever Mufti Mohd Sayeed Memorial Wrestling competition, being organized by Bhartiya Vyamshala in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council, under Khelo India Games got underway at Mini Stadium, Parade, here today.
The wrestlers from the districts of Resi, Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Ganderbal, Srinagar and Anantnag, besides Jammu Rural, Dewana Mandir Akhara and Lal Singh Akhara Rajbagh are taking part in the event, which was declared open by MLA Ravinder Raina as chief guest, while Satinder Sing Sethi was the guest of honour.
The winners in today’s bouts in various weight categories were Ankit Basotra of Jammu City, Abhishek Singh of Samba, Ankush Saini, Sourav Saini, Jarnail Singh, Shakti Singh, Aman Dogra, Rakesh Kumar, Rahul Saini, Anil Kumar, Karan Singh, Bagh Hussain, Subash Singh, Puneet Jamwal, Gulshan Singh, Sahil Sharma and Farooq.
In the second round, Habib, Manjeet Singh, Rakesh Kumar and Bagh Hussain emerged winners.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Shiv Kumar Sharma, Joint Secretary Sports Council, Ravi Singh, Divisional Sports Officer, Prem Choudhary, Bodhraj Pahalwan, Prithvi Raj, KL Sharma, Rakesh Khajuria, Bansi Lal Tidyal and Mulk Raj Sharma.
