JAMMU, Mar 24: The 2-day Programme for Specially abled children organized by Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee in collaboration with Tawi Trekkers J&K concluded today  with a sport climbing competition at Sprawling Buds School, Chinore  here.
The purpose of the programme was to inculcate the spirit of adventure especially mountaineering, sport climbing and allied sports among the younger generation and to spread it to the nook and corner of this part of the country.
The programme was highly successful as it received overwhelming response from Home for Handicapped and School for Blinds.
On the first day, on the spot painting competition was organized at Home for Handicapped,  Udheywala, Jammu.
Chattarpal, a renowned writer, an artist and President Dogri Sanstha, Jammu acted as the Judge of the competition. The painting competition was followed by  a visit to the Aquarium at Bahu Fort for the inmates of the Home for Handicapped besides an Adventure films show and  some interesting Talks by prominent personalities in the field.
On the second day today, the specially abled children of Home for Handicapped and Home for Blind were imparted training in sport climbing in which all the participants showed keen interest and enthusiasm.
An informal competition was also organized and winners in various categories were honoured with cash prizes.
It is the second time that such a programme has been conducted by the IMF North Zone Committee at Jammu.
S Bhattacharjee, Chairman IMF North Zone Committee who has come to Jammu especially for the conduct of Programme for Specially abled children and IMF Metro Programme , personally supervised all the arrangements and facilities provided to the participants.
Ram Khajuria, Secretary IMF North Zone Committee and Shawetica Khajuria, Secretary, Tawi trekkers J&K were the resource persons of the prestigious event who were assisted by local technical personnel.
