Monsoon Cricket League: Simula Cricket XI sails into Final

JAMMU, July 8: Defeating its rival team Shastri Cricket XI by 60 runs, Simula Cricket XI today entered into final of the ongoing Monsoon Tri-Series Cricket League, which is being played here at Science College Ground.
The tournament in which 3 teams are participating is being organized jointly by Jammu and Kashmir Police Department and Simula Club, under the supervision of Ashkoor Wani, DIG Jammu and Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer, the former Ranji player, who is also the organizing secretary of the tournament.
Parshotam Sharma, Deputy Director, Prosecution, RPHQ Jammu, was the chief guest in today’s match which was played between Simula Cricket XI and Shastri Cricket XI. The match was won by Simula Cricket XI by 60 runs.
Batting first, Simula Cricket XI scored a huge total of 266 runs in the stipulated 35 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. Hardeep Singh, Ranji player played a magnificent inning and scored 104 runs, Dhruv Mahajan also made 78 runs while Puneet added 22 runs to the total. For Shastri Cricket XI, Amit Sharma was the main bowler who took 3 wickets. Varun, Vishal Rana and Vishal Singh took 1 wicket each.
Shastri Cricket XI in reply could not achieve the target but fought back and made 206 runs in 34.3 overs for the lost of all wickets. Arvind was the top scorer with 42 runs, Deepak made 33 runs while Amit Sharma contributed 29 runs to the total. For Simula Cricket XI, Mohit Puri took 4 wickets, Hardeep Singh and Vikram took 2 wickets each, while Atul took 1 wicket. Hardeep Singh was adjudged man of the match.
The organizing Committee members included Parshotam Sharma, Hilal Rather, MD Simula, Ashash Sharma, RP Singh, Rajesh Dhar, Asif Gill, David Mattoo and Suhail.
The match was officiated by Suhail Yusuf, Sandeep Manchanda and Vinod Kandayara.
Now Simula Cricket XI will lock horns with the JKP Cricket XI in the final match of the League which shall be played on July 10 at 11.30 am.
