*Spartan CC scripts win in opening tie

UDHAMPUR, June 14: MLA Udhampur Pawan Kumar Gupta declared open JKCA Premier Cricket Championship in an impressive and well attended function at Subash Stadium, here today.
Sham Saroop Kalsotra, Member Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association was the guest of honour.
16 teams are participating in this knockout tournament. The players participating are provided opportunity to reserve their berth as probable for JKCA under the administration of Justice CK. Prasad and Justice Syed Rafat Alam, while Ashiq Hussain Bukhari is the Chairman.
The opening function was arranged by Gourav Khajuria, Coordinator, Udhampur District Tournament Organizing Committee and its Executive members formed by J&K Cricket Association.
In the inaugural match, Spartan Cricket Club defeated Young Blood Cricket Club by a big margin of 142 runs.
Batting first, Spartan scored 168 runs in 26.1 overs. Gagan Sharma and Sachin Kotwal contributed 41 and 31 runs to the total respectively. Pankaj Rana chipped in with 23 runs and Suresh Jamwal also contributed 15 runs. For Young Blood CC, Virender Bandral took 4 wickets, while Rakesh Gupta bagged 3 wickets.
In reply, Young Blood Cricket Club collapsed at 26 runs in 10.5 overs, thus lost the match by 142 runs. None of the batsmen could reach the double figure mark. For Spartan Cricket Club, Inder Gupta was the wrecker-in_chief who took 6 important wickets, while Suresh Jamwal bagged 2 wickets. Inder Gupta was declared as the man of the match.
