JAMMU, July 18: MLA Mendhar and senior National Conference leader Javed Rana today released Rs 20 lakhs for the establishment of play ground and sports clubs for all 40 panchayats in Sub Division Mendhar.
The initiative was taken by the MLA Mendhar after finding that the sportsmanship has been fading away gradually, while a menace of drug addiction has destroyed the life of the youth.
MLA Mendhar said that he has asked the concerned departments to identify the land for the establishment of play ground in all 40 panchayats, where each sports club will get Rs 50, 000, for the purpose.
“We want to establish play ground in every Panchayat of Mendhar Sub Division under CDF. This is the first initiative and in coming days, we will take similar other steps to promote sports culture in Mendhar and in entire Pir Panjal,” he said.
Rana was concerned over the growing menace of drugs because of growing unemployment and present coalition has miserably failed to generate employment opportunities due to which youth have frustrated and allegedly indulge in drugs addiction, while asserting that youth are the asset of the society.
The graph of unemployment has increased under the present coalition Government due to which middle class and poor people have been facing the burnt, he said.
He said that there is good talent in Pirpanjal and it should be utilised in a positive manner for the welfare of the society. “There is no concrete policy or programme from the Government to curve this drug addiction menace. Mere police action and arrests would not solve the problem. There is a need to involve people especially youth,” he further added.
MLA Mendhar informed that he has also announced outdoor stadium for Mendhar as he had recommended same to the Government and requested for the identification of land upto 200 kanals in the border town which requires an amount of Rs 8 crore.
