JAMMU, Feb 11: Stressing on the importance of sports in career building and health promotion, MLA Kokernag, Abdul Rahim Rather advocated for the promotion of sports among the youth of Kashmiri migrants, living in camps and non camps, here.
The MLA was speaking on the opening ceremony of the 3-day Block Level Sports Tournament, being organized jointly by Global Sampark Youth Club, Helpline Humanity and Nehru Yuva Kendra, Jammu at Jagti Township, here.
Mr Rather said that there is no dearth in talent in the State of Jammu and Kashmir and the need is to explore it at the grass-root level, adding that sports infrastructure needs to be raised in migrant camps and such tournaments need to be organized to provide opportunity to young sportspersons of the migrant community to polish their skill and hone their talent.
The MLA was accompanied by a galaxy of dignitaries including Ravinder Raina, President ASKPC; MK Yogi, President NC Minority Cell; Col GK Raina, Vineet Ji, Nana Ji, MK Bhat, Sunil Pandita, Vinod Zutshi and the Office bearers of Helpline Humanity namely MK Bhat, Omesh Raina, Aryan Ramesh and Sameer Bhat.
The Tournament is being held in the disciplines of Volleyball, Kabaddi and Athletics.
The participating clubs included Sai Club, Helpline Humanity Club, Global Sampark Youth Club, Nagrota Club, Jagti Club and TRT Club.
On the opening day, Sai Club, Helpline Club and Heema Club emerged winners in volleyball.
